Alexander is the pseudonym (er, middle name) of New Haven guitarist David Shapiro, who is a key collaborator with Kath Bloom, Headroom and Center. However, it is solo where he really shines. Truly a student of the guitar (and music in general), Shapiro’s dedication to playing and expanding his playing pallet is astounding, and this tape showcases just that. Another in his ongoing series of recordings documenting the many places he has called home, “Elm Street” sees Shapiro improvise and compose unique fingerpicked acoustic guitar numbers with occasional harmonica drone flourishes. Each tune is unique in its temper and mood making for a beautifully eclectic release that will bring to fourth feelings from all realms of the human experience. Limited to 50 copies.
